{"id":72,"date":"2025-07-15T10:11:44","date_gmt":"2025-07-15T10:11:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ve9trj.ca\/?p=72"},"modified":"2025-07-15T10:12:58","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T10:12:58","slug":"making-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ve9trj.ca\/index.php\/2025\/07\/15\/making-progress\/","title":{"rendered":"Making Progress"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I was finally able to get a tower, rotator and antenna setup at home, while these are not new they are well appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tower: 40&#8242; Delhi Tower (4 feet into ground)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rotator: CDE Ham II Rotor System<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Antenna: hy-gain TH-3JRS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"511\" height=\"705\" src=\"https:\/\/ve9trj.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-15-065606.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-73\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ve9trj.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-15-065606.png 511w, https:\/\/ve9trj.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-15-065606-217x300.png 217w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 511px) 100vw, 511px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>How it all went together&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dug a hole 4 feet deep (I really hate digging).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test and wire rotator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installed 1st 10 foot section into hole.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installed 2nd 10 foot section and bolted together (used an A frame ladder as it was just 6 feet above the ground).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installed roof bracket and braces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify that tower was plum using a level on all sides.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill hole with dirt.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Re-verify plum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Install 3rd 10 foot section from the roof and bolted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attempt to install final 10 foot section and <strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">FAILED<\/span><\/em><\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rented boom lift<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installed final 10 foot section and bolted. (so easy with the boom lift)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Install rotator onto bottom rung of last tower section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installed shaft.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assembled the TH-3JRS on the roof and installed using boom lift.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installed and routed coax and control cables.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And not to mention the 5+ so trips to hardware store to get bolts, brackets, etc&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Final Verdict: IT WORKS!!!
